Dear Pasty-Cam...All of your pictures are enjoyed by this yooper,from Ontonagon,who has lived in the Southwest for 38 years. One of my all time favorite "pictures" is coming into Rockland on highway 45 from Houghton. As you round the curve and approach the hill just before entering Rockland, if you stop on top of that hill you will get the best picture! The Methodist Church is on the left and the town looks like a village on a postcard. There is always great excitement for me and my family as we approach that spot and when we see Rockland from that view we know we are home. Thank you for all the wonderful photos. How nice to have a little bit of home everyday.

Enjoy this site and I particularly enjoyed the picture the other day from between Chassel and Houghton. My son lives right about there; will be up to see him this weekend.

This site is one of the greatest! Originally from Marquette, and a '77 Tech graduate, I, at times, miss the good 'ol UP. I am currently stationed (Air Force) in the Washington,DC area and get a kick out of how this area "handles" the snow. Just last week the city closed down for two days for just 10" of snow! I can't imagine what would happen if the Lake Linden picture posted on this site would happen here! Looking forward to seeing some Winter Carnival pictures. Tanks, eh

Pasty Cam photographer should tread more cautiously when he thinks he is in the Marquette environs. Imagine identifying the January 10th picture as coming from anywhere other than Eagle River. He obviously was caught up in a time warp. That scene is of the foot of the main street in Eagle River in 1930. I know; I saw it!

One year, my wife brought a puppy home from the festival. She was told it was a male. A year later, our "male" gave birth to three Black Lab and one Golden Lab puppies.

To all the Pasty Cam crew. Your video shots are great I have been documenting video scenes of the Keweenaw for quite a while. We are summer residents on Sedar Bay Road so most of my shots are done in the summer. Your winter shots fill in what we aren't getting. I would like to accompany the cam crew next summer when you take those beautiful videos. We spent our honeymoon in the Keweenaw 50 years ago and have been coming back ever since. Keep up the great work. We always enjoy seeing pictures of the UP, particulary the Keweenaw.

Hi! Back in the mid 60's I worked at Cleavland Cliffs Mather "B" and I could not think of Teal lake. Did you know that one of drifts in that mine go under that lake? Was always on my mind when we were working down there.

Can anyone tell me if the Presque Isle Bog Walk and Nature Trail featured on Jan. 11th was established by Lon L. Emerick? I have a book written by him, and he developed an interpretive path describing habitat at Little Presque Isle north of Marquette. Are these one and the same?

I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful pictures. My husband is from Hancock and now that we live in Mexico, he really misses going up north after Christmas to see the snow, we didn't get enough in Detroit for him. Hopefully we can make it up next winter for a week or so.

Hello from boring old Mokena, Illinois! I found your website just before New Year's Eve, and have spent countless hours on it since. I've been going to the U.P. for vacations for 30 years now, even spent my honeymoon in Copper Harbor and Isle Royale. Could you take a picture of the "Breezy Point Lodge", on Rt. 41 in Copper Harbor? And does anyone know why it has been vacant for so long?

I suspect that the author from Cornwall might have had some meat that was tainted with "Mad Cow Disease". We all know where that started, don't we?

Of course, only the best Cornish people came here to settle and brought with them their best Cornish Pasty recipes. The others were left behind in good old Cornwall. And that's why there are "Superior Cornish" Pasties available from Pasty Central.

Guess Duchy man of Cornwall has never had a pasty made at Still Waters? We think they are the best. They are made with Lake Superior air. What is McDonalds, Duchy?

The cute kid is Alex Voelker, and has probably appeared more on the Pasty Cam than any other individual. Son of Abe and Chris (Bausano) Voelker. Abe is a manager at Fraki's and Chris's folks operate Copperworld.

I am from Cornwall......The true home of the Pasty. you Americans and other non-Cornish people have no idea of the true potential of the good old meat, vegetable and pastry combination until you try one from the good old Duchy of Cornwall. I am sure that you think you can make one. But you miss that special ingrediant. ....The cornish sea air. You can't beat it, t'is 'andsome you know! You have probably never tasted a real crust and you can not just walk down to the local butchers opr bakers and buy one, still, I suppose you have always got Mcdonalds!!!

I spent Christmas in Vancouver, WA with my daughter Sharon (Hiltunen) VanAusdeln (Ontonagon class of 1979) and for a surprise for me, (Sylvia Lehto Thacker, Ontonagon class of 1959) she ordered pasties. We were in Nara, Japan when we took this picture. I am on the left of the gentleman with the Ishpeming Hematites shirt and my husband, Ray is on the other side. The other lads in the photo gathered around when we produced the camera.

My husband and I have been on a Voyage around the world called Semester at Sea, lasting 3.5 months... We attempted to converse with the young Japanese lad, but his English was limited to the fact that he played Soccer (football, to him).
